This collection includes letters sent between Michael Longridge and George Stephenson, discussing general and personal matters as well as issues concerning the Liverpool and Manchester Railway; London and Birmingham Railway; Stockton and Darlington Railway; North Midlands Railway; and the Newcastle and Berwick Railway.
Longridge was joint-owner, alongside William Hawks, of Bedlington Ironworks.
