Clay Cross Minutes 1846-1854

Minute book for Clay Cross Collieries and Crich Limeworks. These businesses were managed by George Stephenson and Company from 04 Nov 1846-20 Jun 1850 and by Clay Cross Company from 21 Feb 1852-06 Jul 1854.

The contents include discussion of financial matters, including accounts and legal issues such as the logging of deeds; business matters, such as the purchasing of furnaces and trials including dealings with other organisations. The contents also include reference to employee roles, including of Robert Stephenson who acted as an agent, and Mr Harrison, travelling agent.

The minutes are signed as follows: 04 Nov 1846 and 26 Aug 1847 George Stephenson; 26 Feb 1848 and 15 Nov 1848 Robert Stephenson; 26 May 1847 Joseph Sanders (initialled); and 21 Feb 1852 Samuel Morton Peto.
