William Cawthorne Unwin

Professor Unwin was a civil and mechanical engineer, he was one of the few people who was President of IMechE and the Institution of Civil Engineers. He was Professor of Engineering at the Royal Indian Engineering College. During the First World War he acted as an advisor to the government. Noted for his works of hydraulics he researched and published widely on the subject and was the first recipient of the Kelvin Gold Medal for "distinguished service in the application of science to engineering".
