Lala Ganga Ram

Rai Bahadur Sir Ganga Ram Agrawa, was an engineer and philanthropist. After graduation, he began farming 50,000 acres; within three years the vast desert was turned into viable land irrigated by thousands of miles of channels with water lifted by a hydroelectric plant. It became the biggest private enterprise of its kind, bring mass farming to an area where it had never been seen before. In 1900, Lord Curzon selected Ganga Ram as superintendent of works in Imperial Durbar.
