"Swimming tank"
Swimming tank entering the River Rhine during an assault across it, the propeller is visible at the back it is this which enables the tank to swim. It is surrounded in a collapsible waterproof covering.
"Released by the censor as one of the war's most closely guarded secrets. These swimming tanks were able to crawl along a riverbed and plough through rough seas. The principle of flotation was exceedingly simple-consisting of a collapsible canvas screen fitted to the tanks hull, which when erected completely surrounded the tank, enabling it to float. Power came from a propeller", c1946.
