The fastest express train service ever run between London and Edinburgh started operation on the London and North Eastern Railway when a streamlined train drawn by the locomotive..left King's Cross..The trains on the service carry a tail car in the rear, ultra-streamlined in the shape of a beaver tail, which enables passengers to enjoy a rear view as the train proceeds. The train completes the journey in the 6 hours.
Coronation type engines named after countries of the Empire are used, 5 July 1937.
