15 Feb. Possible joint representation by the three engineering societies on rates exemption. First meetings of Committee on Practical Training, brief report. Proposed formation of British National Committee for Automation (BNCA): formed of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Production and Chemical Engineers.

22 Mar. Progress report on proposed BNCA.

26 Apr. Panel to be set up to advise Ministry of Labour and National Service on candidates for training as technicians. Exploratory British Conference on Automation and Computation attended by President. 

9 Aug. Review of secondary school qualifications as exempting students from Section 1. Action to be taken over forged Higher National Certificate. Invitations to lectures to include six girls schools.

18 Oct. Notice of Special Meeting on By-laws regarding accounts, messages from Brian Robbins (1900-1976, Secretary) and George H. Nelson. Tribute to R.W. Bailey. Report on the Standard of Discussions on Papers, from Publications and Library Committee Sub-Committees. Agreement reached over National Certificates in Aeronautical Engineering.
