Joy's Journal

Notebook containing a fair copy account of Joy's life and major engineering works for the period 1851-1874, which is apparently based on contemporary diaries and notebooks. Projects described include Joy's contributions to locomotive design, marine engineering and bridge building: together with improvements in steam hammers, rock drills, artillery pieces and a variety of machine tools.

Illustrated with line drawings throughout, a mixture of ink originals and reproductions cut from journals etc and pasted.
