In 2001 Cherry Hill completed her model of the Gilletts and Allatt Traction Engine. It is based upon an original design inspired by Cherry's desire to create a traction engine sympathetic to contemporary engines from 1862 but with atypical features. It is constructed from 7,800 singular pieces and is named after the farm where her father worked - Gilletts Farm - and her mother's maiden name. The model became the 16th produced by Cherry, taking 6,500 hours to complete, including almost half a year dedicated to the paintwork alone. Scale 1/16th and 0.75 inches to 1 foot; weight in case 15.4kg; measurements 13 3/4 x 6 1/2 x 8 3/4in Nameplate reads 'Gilletts & Allatt, Smarden, Kent, England, Traction Engine, 1862' |
