"Locomotive development will halve costs. This new forty-ton Armostrong-Whitworth diesel-electric locomotive, will enable railways and British industrial undertakings to halve the cost of their internal transport and shunting systems. Although equipped with only a 250 bhp engine, tests have proved that it can carry out all duties previously performed by steam locomotives capable of developing at least 400 hp at a fuel cost nof only 7 pence-halfpanny to 8 pence per hour, 25 Aug 1928.
